In designing DEKA, the objective was to bridge the mid-century urban fabric of Kolonaki with a contemporary, multi-functional social hub. The project is rooted in the principles of Athenian Modernism, employing a rigorous geometric hierarchy to orchestrate the flow between its gallery, bar, and restaurant functions. Rather than segregating these uses, the floor plan utilizes structural geometry to guide guests naturally from curated art displays to the energy of the dining and social areas. The architecture acts as a disciplined yet fluid backdrop, defined by the use of raw materials that celebrate their honest, tactile qualities. This materiality is brought to life by a lighting scheme that prioritizes mood over utility, casting the space in a mysterious, club-like atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and raw.
